Now that you already master the editor, it is time to learn about Block Id, short names, edit bike + wheelchair accessibility, and handle special line cases. 🛠️
To access these features, select the line you need, click on "Departure Times" 🕒, and then click on any of the timetable columns. The Block ID, Short Names and Accessibility options will unfold:
🆔 Block ID
The first option, "Block ID", is for special cases where a line reaches a destination and a user can remain on the bus because that line will "transform" into another one with a different destination. 🔄
- Example: Let's say Line 15 goes to the Southern Terminal. At the terminal, a passenger can stay on the bus because it will soon become Line 16 headed for the Central Terminal. 🚌💨
- It might also keep the same line number (15) but change its destination from that point forward, depending on the case. 📍
How to set it up:
- You need to add a Block ID (of your choice), but it must be unique; if there’s another case like this, it must have a different ID. 🔑
- The ID is used to link both trips. For example, if the first trip is Line 16 Southern Terminal, you should assign it ID 115, and for the second trip to the Central Terminal, assign ID 115 as well. This way, both trips will be correctly linked! ✅
🔢 Short Name
The second feature is "Short Name", which is useful when a line number has changed but the destination remains the same. 📝
- Example: If you have Line 5 Northern Terminal in the editor, but the line number has changed, this field allows you to add the new number that will appear in the app. 📱
- NOTE: You will probably still see the old line number in the editor, but once you save the change in this section, the correct number will be shown to users in the app. 💡
♿ Edit Bike + Wheelchair Accessibility
Finally, we have the option to provide information on whether the line has bicycle access 🚲 and if it is wheelchair accessible 👨🦽.
- In these fields, simply click on the dashes to open the dropdown menu. You can then select Yes, No, or Unknown. Notice that once you select, the icon will automatically update to reflect the new status! 🔄✨
- This ensures the app provides relevant and vital accessibility information to all users. ❤️
