A Shape Issue occurs when the visual representation of a route on the map (the "shape") does not accurately align with the actual path the vehicle takes or the positions of the stops. These issues can lead to confusing navigation for passengers and incorrect distance calculations in the app.
Moovit’s editor identifies these inconsistencies automatically. To see and fix them, you can go to the Shape Issues tab, where you will find all existing issues for your project. 📋
The editor lists each issue by segment and identifies:
- ⚠️ The type of Shape Issue.
- 🚌 The number of Departures affected.
- 📍 The number of Trips affected.
🔍 Where to find the Shape Issues tab?
- Go to the drop-down menu by clicking your user name in the top right corner. 👤↗️
- Click on "Shape Issues" in the drop-down menu. 📂
❓ Which Shape Issues are there?
The editor identifies four specific types of issues:
- Has Spikes: The shape segment makes an unnecessary detour. 📈
- Off Stop: The shape is too far from the stop. 📏🛑
- Invalid Break: The shape includes segments that don’t connect, a segment with only 1 point, or a shape that goes back and forth for no reason. 🛠️❌
- No Shape: The shape segment is missing entirely. 📭
🕵️ Looking for a specific Shape Issue?
You can use the filters to search by Agency 🏢 or by Line 🚌 to narrow down your results.
🛠️ How to fix a Shape Issue?
