With Moovit, getting your ride tickets in Rome is quick and simple. Here’s everything you need to know to buy, activate, and validate your tickets - all in one place.
Buying your tickets
To start, tap the Tickets tab on the main screen. Then tap Buy ticket and choose the type of ticket you need. You can buy as many tickets as you'd like - just increase the quantity or tap Add another fare to choose different ticket types.
Keep in mind that purchasing a ticket doesn't automatically activate it. You're free to buy tickets in advance and activate them only when you're ready to ride. After choosing the tickets you want to get, tap Purchase.
If you already have a paying account with Moovit, you’ll go straight to the payment screen. If you have Google Pay or Apple Pay, they’ll appear as your default options. Otherwise, you can add your preferred payment method manually.
Setting up a paying account
If you don’t yet have a paying account with Moovit, you’ll need to set one up before you can finish your purchase. Just enter your phone number, confirm it with the code sent to you, and add your email address.
Accessing your tickets
Once you’ve completed your purchase, all your tickets will be available under My Rides in the My Tickets screen. You can return to this screen anytime by tapping the Tickets tab again.
This screen shows all your available tickets, so you can see which ones are already activated and which are waiting to be activated. Tapping a ticket name will show you the full ticket details.
At the bottom of the My Tickets screen, you’ll find a Purchase history button where you can view all your expired tickets from past rides.
Activating and Validating Tickets
When you're ready to use a ticket, tap Activate next to the one you want. You’ll be asked to choose the type of transit you're using, either Metro A/B, or tram, train, bus, or Metro C.
- Metro A/B: Your ticket is valid for one ride and lasts up to 100 minutes. However, once you activate it, you have just 2 minutes to validate it with the QR code. The code refreshes every 30 seconds, so if it times out before you scan it, just refresh the QR to get a new one - still within those 2 minutes.
- Tram, train, bus, or Metro C: Your ticket will be valid for the full time shown on it (e.g. 90 minutes, 24 hours etc.), starting the moment you activate it. You’ll see a countdown timer under your QR code, so you always know how much time is left. Just like with Metro A/B, the QR code will refresh every 30 seconds, and you’ll see a countdown timer so you always know how much time is left.
