Close stops are situations where 2 or more stops (of any transit type) are located less than 5 meters from each other. Close Stops can cause a bad user experience, making it difficult for users to tap on those stops on the map to view the lines served by the stop.
Close stop can happen when:
- Stop locations are badly mapped
- There are many stops nearby such as terminals
- Duplicated stops
- (Applies to metro with both community-contributed data and data from agency sources) There are multiple sources, each of which has its own stops in the data, often for the same stop.
To find out which stops have a Close Stop issue, you may request for a drilldown from your Community Manager via “Send us a message” button from the bottom left of the Editor.
Ways to fix Close Stops
The most obvious way to fix the Close Stop is to move them away from each other to their correct location. If there is more than one stop in the editor for one actual stop (In cases where there are multiple official data sources such as feed from agencies), you may follow the following steps.
Go to the stop that you wish to fix. You may copy the coordinate (Lat, Long) and insert it into the search bar on the top right of the map to go straight to the stop.
At the targeted Stop, create a Hub Station by right-clicking at the location of the stops, tick on the “Is a hub station”, and give the relevant Name to the stop.
Then, click on the “Add Stop/Platform” and select the stop(s) involved and click on ok. Then click on OK again.
Finally, remember to click on the “SAVE” button on top left of the map.
The fixed Close Stop will be loaded into the app overnight and it will be updated in the app the next day.
